Answers:
01. Not all that
is called NANO is always “real” NANO-technology!
Often products based on silicone, oil, polymer, acryl or Teflon
application systems are advertised as nano products, because, for a
limited period of time, they produce a repellant effect similar to that
of a nano-refined surface. These products and nanotechnology, however,
do not have the same father.
Silicone-coatings, for example,
have numerous disadvantages, such as an unpleasant smearing effect,
because silicone gasifies after a short time. Contrary to the real
NANO-technology by nanodeck, a surface treated with silicone must be
"coated" much more often.
Note! Unfortunately,
there are also products offered that are "really" nano but are of minor
quality as well as products that, as described above, are based on
other application systems and are labeled as nanotechnology. Short
durability, limited effect and little resistance to mechanical abrasion
are the consequences. This, however, can only be found out after some
time, that is when the effect fades - but by then one has already
bought the products. The purchaser understandably feels discontented
and deceived and then ignorantly and wrongfully demonizes the "real
nanotechnology". Responsible are some network marketing and multi-level
marketing companies that try to make easy money. And every business
partner must pay for himself.
02.
"LOTUS EFFECT" …
means that a surface is “coated” and dirt can be washed away by rain or hosed
down with water.
In closed rooms, this only applies for sanitary
facilities, where the rain is replaced by showering, by washing hands in the
sink or by flushing the toilet. Cleaning by hand is
therefore unnecessary.
"easy-to-clean" … means that from this surface, dirt can
be easily removed, without major effort or cleanser and with just a dry
or water-dampened cloth. This is because dirt cannot or can only
poorly adhere to this surface. This term mainly applies to horizontal
surfaces or surfaces that cannot be rinsed off, for example because
they are in a closed room (e. g. glass tables, stainless steel fronts,
…)
"self-cleaning" … means that dirt on surfaces, so to
speak, dissolves without manual support, for example due to a chemical
process or photocatalysis. The term "self-cleaning" is often
mistakenly used in connection with nanotechnology - what is meant,
however, is always "lotus effect" or "easy to clean".
03. When
set, the products are absolutely innocuous. Proper use and setting
provided, nano-refinements are absolutely innocuous to health. In
liquid condition, the products are less harmful than ordinary
(cleansing) products. However, always keep them away from children.
04.
Yes, the refinement was tested by an independent institution for
innocuousness regarding food and skin and received GRAS-status.
05.
In principle, the quality of the refinement is independent of the
method of application, whether it is sprayed, rubbed or applied by
immersion. Also, the size of the surface has no immediate impact on the
application technique. In private households, the application with a
sprayer and re-polishing with the cloth included in the delivery stood
the test.
06.
The refinement is absolutely frost- and heat-resistant.
07.
Yes, but only if a processing temperature of, depending on the product,
at least 10 degrees Celisius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) and at most 25
degrees Celisius (80 degrees Fahrenheit) air- and object-temperature,
as well as a maximum air humidity of 80%, is given.
08. No,
because the enclosed air between the micro structures is essential.
This air would, in the course of time, diffuse from the structures into
the water, which ruins the effect. For boat hulks, special
2-component-systems are available.
09.
These agents (e. g. cleansers) reduce the surface tension of the water.
Since the lotus effect requires a high surface tension of the water,
the self-cleaning effect cannot work when using these agents. The
surface, however, is not destroyed, but the effect is reduced until the
cleanser is washed out.
10.
No, for the refinement of plastics, a special product is available,
applicable for the refinement of acryl glass doors, e. g. shower
screens.
11. This
may have the following causes:
- The wipers are too old and worn-out
and should be replaced.
- You drove through
a car wash or washed the car by hand, and
remainders of cleanser (tensides) or wax on the wind screen must be
removed.
- The wind screen is
highly polluted by external influences and needs cleaning.
- Too much refinement was applied, and the
refinement’s upper layer is repelled.
Carefully
wipe the screen with a wet cloth. This is usually sufficient.
Tried and tested cleaning methods:
If
the wished-for effect still does not appear, clean the screen with ordinary “methylated
spiritus”, this does not contain tensides.
Application: Put the spiritus on a cloth, and
wipe the screen with it. Important: Carefully wipe it dry afterwards. This
procedure does not damage the refinement and can, if necessary, be repeated.
12.
In the course of time, tiny particles from tire abrasion, diesel soot,
exhaust fumes, etc. collect on the nano refinement. They form a layer
and, so to say, strangle the refinement.
The solution: Take a paper towel, wet it with
ordinary
methylated spiritus and wash the screen with it and carefully wipe it
dry
afterwards. Now you have the effect of the very first day. This
procedure can,
if necessary, be repeated.
13.
The cloths contain enough nanoparticles for a surface of more than 2
m². Most likely the solvent evaporated too fast, for example due to a
too high outdoor temperature at the time of application. Wet the dry
cloth with a little methylated spiritus, and refine the rest of the
surface - it works!
14. There is too much cleaning concentrate in your screen wash water. Do not use screen wash additives from March to November - pure water suffices. For
the winter months from November to February, add some antifreeze, but
avoid overdosing (up to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) is
totally sufficient). Over-dosage leads to striation!
15.
Nothing, because the nano fluid is absolutely neutral.
16.
The textiles must be free from washing agent residues. This as a rule
is the case after a wash with clear water (without washing agent).
17.
Not necessarily. It is important to completely refine the fiber. This
may also be achieved by refining just one side.
18.
Stains arising immediately after the refinement and subsequent drying
indicate a ponding during refinement. Excessive nanoparticles remain
and are repelled by the refined surface. These stains can be removed by
washing with clear water. This procedure can, if necessary, be
repeated.
19. If properly applied, the refinement impairs neither the breathability, nor the grip of the cloth in any way.
20.
No, because there are no self-cleaning surfaces. nanodeck textile &
leather has a refinement feature, which means liquids drip off the
cloth and do not penetrate into the fiber. Cleaning is easier and more
effective. The amount of washing agent can be considerably
reduced.
21.
Although nanodeck textile & leather is UV-stable, it does not
protect colors from fading, since the wave length of the UV-radiation
cannot
interact with the refinement.
22. Up
to the temperatures recommended by the manufacturer, but not exceeding
60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). Optimally refined textiles
washed with modern washing agents do not require more than 60 degrees
Celsius. Usually 30 or 40 degrees Celsius (80 or 100 degrees
Fahrenheit) is enough to hygienically clean the refined textiles.
Further, you only need small amounts of washing agents, since, due to
the refinement features, the fibers do not get dirty anymore - only the
"gaps" must be "washed out".
23. Refined
clothes can be dried in a tumble dryer without worries,
provided that the clothes are dryer-proof according to the
manufacturer’s data.
24. Frequent
washing of textiles may impair the repellant effect. If necessary the
textiles can be refined again. In most cases, however, the impairment
is caused by residuals of washing agents sticking to the textiles since
the last wash. These residuals (tensides) prevent the repellant effect.
The repellant effect also disappears, if the cloth is treated with
starch after the refinement. The fiber protection, however, remains.
The repellant effect is restored by washing the textile with clear
water and subsequent drying. Please note: Textiles that are still
stuck with residuals from the last wash should only be refined after
the removal of these residuals by washing the textile with clear water. The
repellant effect on all textiles may fade due to pollution. In this
case, just clean the surface with a mild cleanser, than carefully wash
it with clear water, and rub it dry, and the repellant effect is back.
Should the repellant effect not come back, this may be caused by a
damaged surface.
25. Damaged
areas can easily be repaired by treating (refining) these
areas again.
26. No,
but the surface should not be totally wet either. Dry, highly absorbent
surfaces should be humidified with water beforehand, so that the
refinement can form a layer on the surface. If the applied humidity
(humidified surface) is visibly absorbed / evaporated, the refinement
can also be applied, so to speak, wet-in-wet.
27.
No, nanodeck wood, stone, façade is a surface hydrophobicity and does
not protect against pressing water.
28. Items
can be protected against frost by completely coating them with
nanodeck wood, stone, façade. Frost damages caused by pressing water
cannot be
prevented.
29.
Algal growth, depending on the kind of stone and location, can be
drastically reduced or even completely prevented.
30.
Yes, nanodeck stainless steel is also perfectly suitable for copper,
silver and other precious materials.
31.
First treat the joints with nanodeck wood, stone, façade and then the
tiles with nanodeck ceramics. If excessive product gets on the tiles
when treating the joints, it should immediately be removed with an
absorbent and clean cloth in order to prevent spots after drying. However,
you do not have to treat the joints separately, but rather can refine
them together with the tiles using nanodeck ceramics. In this case,
however, the refinement in the joints will not last as long.
